The 4th ODI between India and South Africa played at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg was a nail-biting match as the hosts registered a spectacular win.
Shikhar Dhawan’s knock of 109 off 105 balls and Virat Kohli’s 75 off 83 helped India attain a total of 289/7 in 50 overs. The rain-intervened match was then shortened to 28 overs for South Africa who were to chase a target of 202 in 28 overs by the D/L method. In what turned out to be a thrilling and spectacular chase, it was Heinrich Klaasen’s 43* off 27 as well as AB de Villiers’ 26 off 18 and David Miller’s 39 off 28 that led the hosts to victory in the 26th over.
South Africa’s win in the 4th ODI means that the six-match ODI series is not yet one-sided as there are still two matches to go. Currently, India lead the series by 3-1.
It is worth noting here that the South African team continued their campaign for raising awareness about breast cancer by donning the pink jerseys for the ODI at Wanderers Stadium.
The 5th ODI between India and South Africa will take place on Tuesday, 13th February.
